Opti-Ajust
CHABAS sas
We have been investigating this area more closely in an attempt to identify a focus for our research and begin work on developing a new range of CHABAS sprayers.
During 2013: CHABAS's research office worked on developing a new adjustable ramp which would provide maximum access to vegetation, reducing drift and the dose required per hectare (thus reducing the amount of chemicals and saving money).
End 2013: we decided to take part in meetings, protocols, demonstrations, tests, conferences etc. on the subject of agricultural spraying. The aim was to develop our expertise so we could design a device to meet the needs of French fruit growers, increasing their yield and the effectiveness of the treatment, always with a focus on protecting the environment.
Results and technical features of Opti-Ajust:
- Localised spraying -> Side by side -> almost no drift above or below;
- The height and width of the ramp can be adjusted by hydraulic cylinders;
- Adjustments and settings mean you can greatly reduce the size of the UBZ.
- Reduced power consumption -> reduced fuel consumption -> reduced CO2 emissions;
-Reduced dosage per hectare -> savings in terms of pesticides;
- Considerable noise reduction;
- Balanced distribution of product left/right (longitudinal turbine);
- Controlled micronization;
- 10 outlet nozzles with adjustable orientation, capable of functioning independently;
- Can fit under netting and be used to treat (side by side) the entire plant, from top to bottom.
- Working speed of between 6 and 10 km/hr
- Capable of performing between 420 and 540 revolutions/minute;
- Capable of spraying alternate rows or a full row;
- Application can be adapted during different stages of plant growth so as to avoid drift.
NB organisers of SIVAL competition: Opti-Ajust was entered for the 2015 Sival Innovation competition. But the model had still not left the factory. The panel felt that it was too early to be able to judge the innovation and asked the applicant to re-submit the project in 2016.
Following on from the Grenelle environment initiative, ministers asked manufacturers to improve key aspects of agricultural sprayers to help protect the environment.
