Lycium barbarum (Goji) FPW07

FPW Développement

Lycum barbarun ‘FPW07’ (trade name not yet confirmed) is a new variety of GOJI, selected in France, for its innovative features.
The berries of this plant, traditionally rich in anti-oxidants and sold dried, are produced in China.
The new proposed variety produces berries which are larger than those of the varieties currently on sale in Europe and have an attractive bright, dark orange to red colour.
The fruit develops a sweet taste which is pleasant when eaten fresh.
One major benefit of FPW07 is its excellent resistance to powdery mildew. Tests were carried out in the Midi Pyrenees region and Pays de Loire.
The size of the fruit, its pleasant taste and its resistance to powdery mildew are all benefits that must position this variety as a new opportunity for arboreal cultivation in France. A new fresh fruit product which also has new uses in catering and in the agro-food industry.
This plant can now be grown organically thanks to its excellent resistance to powdery mildew.
Cultivation is perennial and harvest, depending on the region, is between July and October. Natural development is easy. Growth should be trained and staked. Fruit set is easy and produces an initial small crop in the same year as planting.
The variety is protected by a European Proprietary Variety Certificate (P.V.C. ongoing). It is proposed by FPW Développement
